InstaVolt meets fellow Cleantech ‘ones to watch’ in San Francisco.

InstaVolt travelled to the Global Cleantech Forum in San Francisco last week, after being named in the 2017 Global Cleantech 100 Ones to Watch list.

The firm, which installs, operates and maintains rapid electric vehicle chargers across the United Kingdom took a place in the coveted list after catching the eye of leading investors and corporates in the market.

InstaVolt was praised by judges after securing £12m investment from cleantech private equity specialists Zouk Capital and signing a multi-million pound deal with US giant ChargePoint, all within the space of 12 months.

Last week InstaVolt travelled to the Global Cleantech Forum, also organised by CleanTech Group, to meet with fellow ‘ones to watch’ and share its thoughts on the future of EV charging with its industry peers.

Chairman Adrian Pike said: “It’s been a pleasure to meet with likeminded companies from across the world. The rate at which the electric vehicle market is developing is unbelievable and we’re proud to be right at the forefront of those advances.”

While in San Francisco InstaVolt also visited its technology partner, ChargePoint and announced plans to buy another 400 of its rapid DC chargers.

It adds to the 200 DC chargers InstaVolt purchased just last May and shows just how fast the company is building a network of rapid DC chargers across the UK.

CEO Tim Payne said: “Increased public awareness and growth in sales of electric vehicles has enabled us to accelerate the roll out of our public charging network. ChargePoint’s future-proofed charging technology ensures that our network is, and will continue to be, the most relevant charging network in the UK. This order further supports our objective of being the largest owner-operator of DC rapid charging assets in the UK, and we anticipate further announcements in the near future as we continue to install at new locations nationwide.”

This year, a record number of nominations for the annual Global Cleantech 100 list were received: 12,300 distinct companies from 61 countries. These companies were weighted and scored to create a short list of 312 companies, with these nominees reviewed by the 86 members of Cleantech Group’s Expert Panel.

The Ones to Watch list, a sister list to the annual Global Cleantech 100 list, is created from the top 250 of the shortlist. To qualify for either list, companies must be independent, for-profit cleantech companies that are not listed on any major stock exchange.
