InstaVolt stars in BBC electric vehicle special.

The spotlight was firmly fixed on InstaVolt today (January 10) as the BBC called upon the company’s expertise in electric vehicle charging.

Sunday Politics South visited InstaVolt HQ to interview CEO Tim Payne as part of a special segment on transport and electric vehicles, which will air this Sunday.

During his time with the BBC Tim discussed the important role businesses like InstaVolt have to play in creating the right infrastructure for electric vehicle use.

He said: “Feedback from the UK public has shown time and time again that fear of not being able to charge, or ‘range anxiety’, is one of the key factors stopping them from going electric. It’s clear therefore that we need to create a better charging infrastructure across the UK, with easy access to rapid charging points.

“The government is playing its part, with some £80m of investment in charging infrastructure announced in November’s Autumn Statement. However, the private sector also has a part to play.

“Companies like ours are fast and flexible, meaning we can install rapid chargers at lightning pace. We have the experience and financial backing to be fiercely ambitious, with plans to install 3000 charging points by 2020.”

Tim concluded: “It’s all about the public and private sector working together to make the UK an easier place to drive an electric vehicle. With the government championing EV use and creating the right environment for businesses like ours, we’re able to deliver a much-needed shot in the arm to the UK’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure.”

The piece on electric vehicles featuring InstaVolt is set to air on BBC One South on Sunday January 15 at 11am. It will be available to view on iPlayer shortly after.
