As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax and Treasury Manager to join our finance team.
Job Summary
As the Tax and Treasury Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing the company’s tax strategy, compliance, and treasury operations. You will ensure that our tax affairs are compliant with relevant laws and regulations while optimising the company’s financial performance through effective cash flow and liquidity management. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of tax regulations and treasury management. InstaVolt is headquartered in the UK but has additional international entities and operations in Spain, Portugal, Iceland and Ireland.
The individual will need to build relationships and work with multiple third-party experts/service providers in all locations to ensure an efficient process. There will be a small team of direct reports involved in the Accounts payable process and there is significant opportunity to lead a larger team in the future, due to the fast growth across these areas and the entire group.
There is scope to be involved in various finance related projects in areas such as system automation, reporting and interfaces to other new systems in the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Management:
- Develop and implement tax strategies that align with the company’s business goals.
- Ensure compliance with all federal/National and local tax laws and regulations.
- Prepare and review corporate tax, VAT and other tax (Short term business visitors, employee related security) returns in all five locations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Advise the business on tax implications of transactions, projects, and investments. This includes topics such as corporate criminal offences (“CCO”), Constructions industry scheme (“CIS”), Research and Development credits (“RDEC) and others.
- Manage relationships with multiple different external tax advisors and authorities.
- Manage relationship with HMRC for any VAT and other tax reviews.
- Monitor and interpret changes in tax legislation and their impact on the business.
- Develop strategy and calculations for reduced rate (5%) VAT application across EV charging industry.
- Play a lead role in co-ordinating the accounts preparation and external statutory audits in all five locations supported by the Finance controller and senior financial accountant.
- Play a lead role in implementing a project to interface the Intacct finance system to a Workiva tool to allow automated and controlled production of financial statements and tax returns.
- Treasury Management:
- Oversee the company’s cash flow, liquidity, and financial risk management activities.
- Review, approve and sign off all global vendor and other payment runs.
- Optimise, automate and increase efficiency of existing payment runs and processes on one time and international vendors.
- Manage banking relationships, negotiate terms, and optimise banking arrangements.
- Develop and implement strategies for managing foreign exchange, interest rate/hedging, and other financial risks.
- Forecast cash flow positions across all five entities, related external borrowing needs, and available funds.
- Lead weekly global cash analysis and bank reconciliation files. Automate where possible.
- Complete external bank loan drawdowns, reporting including draw down certificates and utilisation lock up tests and bi-annual reporting.
- Ensure efficient capital structure and investment strategies.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and present regular reports on tax and treasury activities to senior management.
- Collaborate with the finance team on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Assist with the development of financial policies and procedures related to tax and treasury functions. Including working across departments to gather information and train/educate on items such as invoices requirements for VAT purposes.
- Involvement in ad hoc finance team related projects such as interfaces to new business systems, automation and reporting of information to key stakeholders.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and develop a small team of finance accounts payable professionals.
- Troubleshoot any key accounts payable/payment issues from direct reports and other finance team members.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement/strive for excellence and professional development within the team.
Qualification, requirements and Skills:
- Academic qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related business field – minimum A Level equivalent. A professional qualification (e.g., CPA, CFA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience in tax and/or treasury management, ideally within a multinational corporation or Top25 accounting practice.
- Working in businesses with revenue >£10m.
- Strong knowledge of UK and other European tax laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Proven experience in managing treasury functions, including cash flow management, banking relationships, and financial risk management.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Self-starter and responsible, but able to work cross-functionally and within a team
- Proficiency in financial software and minimum intermediate Excel skills.

Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum plus 10% annual discretionary bonus
