The UK’s shift to electric vehicles is picking up speed. In May 2025, battery electric vehicle (BEV) registrations rose by 28% year-on-year, capturing nearly 22% of all new car sales, according to New AutoMotive. April also saw BEVs take over 20% market share, a sign that the move to cleaner transport is firmly underway.

This progress reflects more than just a market trend; it’s part of the UK’s wider push towards the ban on new petrol and diesel cars. Electric mobility is central to the UK’s sustainability agenda and InstaVolt is proud to play an active role in that mission. We’re pleased to see more drivers than ever embracing EVs and we’re proud to support their journeys with a charging network that’s fast, reliable and growing every month. We already operate over 2,000 ultra-rapid chargers across the UK and we’re working towards a target of 11,000 by 2030.

Our entire charging network is powered by 100% renewable energy, and our flagship Winchester Superhub which opened earlier this year, showcases our vision for the future – onsite solar generation, battery storage for better energy resilience and multiple ultra-rapid chargers in a premium, accessible setting. This site is a model for the future of sustainable self-sufficiency.

What’s important now is to continue to deliver what customers want and need, and make the experience easier and more intuitive than ever. At InstaVolt, there’s no need for subscriptions, it’s just tap, charge and go whether you’re a new EV driver or a seasoned one, we’re making every journey simple, fast and clean.
