UK EV market accelerates and InstaVolt is proud to power it sustainably
The UK’s shift to electric vehicles is picking up speed. In May 2025, battery electric vehicle (BEV) registrations rose by 28% year-on-year, capturing nearly 22% of all new car sales, according to New AutoMotive. April also saw BEVs take over 20% market share, a sign that the move to cleaner transport is firmly underway.
This progress reflects more than just a market trend; it’s part of the UK’s wider push towards the ban on new petrol and diesel cars. Electric mobility is central to the UK’s sustainability agenda and InstaVolt is proud to play an active role in that mission. We’re pleased to see more drivers than ever embracing EVs and we’re proud to support their journeys with a charging network that’s fast, reliable and growing every month. We already operate over 2,000 ultra-rapid chargers across the UK and we’re working towards a target of 11,000 by 2030.
