Business park goes live with electric vehicle charging.

Two state-of-the-art rapid electric vehicle (EV) chargers have gone live at a prestigious business park in Basingstoke.

InstaVolt has installed the technologically-advanced units at Chineham Park, which is home to a swathe of innovative companies including Ericsson and Motorola.

The 50Kw DC rapid chargers, from US firm ChargePoint, can take an electric car to 80 per cent charge in half an hour. Unlike most other electric vehicle charging points, InstaVolt’s are available to use on a pay as you go basis, with no subscription or membership required. Drivers simply tap their contactless credit or debit card, charge up and go. Drivers pay only for the electricity they use.

Wendy Scott, customer manager at Chineham Park said: “We are just starting to see the number of electric vehicles commuting and visiting the park increase, so we wanted to make sure we can provide a smart solution for both occupiers and their visitors. Thanks to InstaVolt, we now have a quick and simple recharging point which uses the latest technology to keep our customers on the road.”

Tim Payne, CEO of InstaVolt, added: “We’re thrilled to see our rapid charging units are already proving popular at Chineham Park. In order to increase the number of electric vehicles on the road we need to make charging easy and that’s exactly what our units are doing here in Basingstoke.”

The new chargers at Chineham Park are located in the Spindlewood area, opposite Fitness First and Dayer’s Café, making it easy for drivers to charge up while grabbing a coffee or while attending the onsite gym.
