InstaVolt is now a member of the NICRP to tackle infrastructure crime around the UK
InstaVolt has joined forces with The National Infrastructure Crime Reduction Partnership (NICRP), a collaborative initiative that brings together industry leaders, law enforcement agencies and community organisations to reduce and prevent infrastructure crime across the UK.
Electric vehicle (EV) charge point cable theft is an all-too-common offence that disrupts the experience of EV drivers and threatens the reliability of the UK’s charging network. InstaVolt sites, like many others, have been targeted, and we are determined to do everything we can to stop these crimes. We already have a robust system of protective cable sheaths, CCTV and security patrols, but partnering with the NICRP enables us to share intelligence and collaborate on proactive crime prevention strategies, ensuring our charging stations remain operational when drivers need them most.
As the UK moves toward cleaner, more connected energy solutions, protecting the infrastructure that powers this transition becomes even more critical. Cable theft not only affects EV networks but also damages essential services, disrupts daily life and creates wider economic impacts. The NICRP plays an important role in tackling these issues by improving coordination, raising awareness and promoting a united front against infrastructure crime.
At InstaVolt, delivering reliable and accessible EV charging has always been at the heart of our mission. But reliability is about more than just ultra-rapid chargers and excellent customer service – it also means having robust, resilient infrastructure. By working with the NICRP, we’re taking active steps to safeguard the systems that underpin the UK’s journey to an electric vehicle future.
