InstaVolt’s new Winchester Superhub is already hailed a success
As we approach the end of the first week of opening for our largest and most advanced ultra-rapid charging Superhub, we are pleased to share its success and value to EV drivers, the local community as well as the environment.
The Superhub, strategically located near Winchester and major trunk roads the A34 and M3, is ideal for those travelling, commuters and local residents.
Just this week alone the 44 ultra-rapid chargers, each capable of delivering charging speeds of up to 160kW, saw both experienced EV drivers and those new to electric vehicles. The drivers who charged on the site ranged from families travelling abroad, staff from the local tourism industry, workers with electric vans and those without charging facilities at home.
And from 1st April all EV drivers that use the InstaVolt app will be able to take advantage of an exclusive charging rate of just 50p per kWh from 7pm to 7am. This is possible due to the advanced energy system including an on-site solar farm with 870 panels and a cutting-edge battery energy storage system capable of storing the equivalent of 1.5 million AA batteries.
In the first couple of days of opening alone the site has powered 35,000 emission-free miles, that is enough to circle the globe nearly one and a half times, as well as saving 8,841kg of greenhouse gases which is equivalent to planting 215 trees left to grow for 10 years.
As the UK’s largest single-operator Superhub, this Winchester site reinforces InstaVolt’s commitment to making EV charging more accessible, sustainable and cost-effective.
