InstaVolt – protecting the UK’s EV charging infrastructure
Cable theft of EV chargers is a growing national problem, this crime not only disrupts charging for EV drivers but also diverts investment away from infrastructure growth and risks slowing progress towards the UK’s net zero goals.
InstaVolt is taking proactive steps to stay ahead of offenders. The nationwide rollout of CableGuard™ has been under way this year, protecting cables with a high-strength sleeve that releases a forensic liquid if tampered with, but we are taking this innovation even further. At many locations, we are installing CCTV and and are starting to roll out new innovative technology to trace and recover cables.
These measures are being introduced alongside sharing information with the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners to strengthen enforcement and target theft hotspots. As the UK’s largest ultra-rapid charging network, InstaVolt remains committed to innovation, security and service. By investing in cutting-edge protection, we are ensuring EV drivers can continue to rely on safe, sustainable and uninterrupted charging across the country.
