EV drivers in Birmingham can now charge with confidence following the reopening of InstaVolt’s charging site at KFC Sheldon, now equipped with the latest CableGuard™ anti-theft technology.

Located just off Coventry Road the site is back online after cable damage recently and its now part of InstaVolt’s growing list of sites protected by CableGuard™.

This Sheldon site is now fully restored and more secure, offering the same trusted convenience EV drivers expect from InstaVolt. With on-site amenities such as KFC, you can pop in and have a bite while your car is plugged in.

InstaVolt first introduced CableGuard™ in April 2025 as part of its nationwide strategy to combat cable theft. CableGuard™ is a high-strength cable sleeve that if interfered with releases a forensic liquid that glows under UV light and is traceable to a specific location making it a powerful deterrent and supporting law enforcement in tracking and prosecuting offenders.

As the UK’s largest ultra-rapid charging network, InstaVolt remains committed to investing in innovation, security and service – ensuring drivers can rely on safe, sustainable and uninterrupted charging, wherever the road takes them.
