InstaVolt site at McDonalds Penn road celebrate one year
McDonald’s Drive Thru on Penn Road, Wolverhampton, owned and operated by local Franchisee Ash Raju, is proud to celebrate one year since the installation of its four InstaVolt ultra-rapid EV chargers, marking a significant milestone in the restaurant’s sustainability journey.
In the past 12 months, these chargers have enabled drivers to travel more than 700,000 emission-free miles, saving over 175,000 kilograms of greenhouse gas emissions, the equivalent carbon footprint of producing more than 2 million plastic bottles.
To mark the anniversary, InstaVolt Account Manager Maxine Aldington joined Franchisee Ash Raju, Labour MP for Wolverhampton West Warinder Juss and Steve Nightingale Wolverhampton Council for a community litter pick. The clean-up event supported the franchisee’s ongoing efforts to maintain a cleaner, greener site and highlighted McDonald’s broader commitment to environmental stewardship.
This initiative reflects McDonald’s nationwide focus on promoting greener transport solutions and offering convenient, sustainable services for customers. The site’s four 160kW chargers can deliver an 80% charge in under 20 minutes, allowing EV drivers to power up quickly while enjoying their favourite McDonald’s meals.
Ash Raju, Franchisee of the Penn Road restaurant, said: “It’s incredible to see the positive impact our chargers have made over the past year. Supporting over 700,000 miles of emission-free travel is something we’re really proud of, and it’s a great example of how small changes at a local level can contribute to a more sustainable future.”
Simon Smith, Chief Commercial Officer at InstaVolt, added: “This site shows what’s possible when businesses like McDonald’s take meaningful steps towards sustainability. The usage and savings achieved here reflect growing demand for EV infrastructure and the critical role it plays in achieving the UK’s net zero goals.”
