The Lake District has been chosen in a recent poll by InstaVolt as the UK’s favourite EV road trip destination, the country’s largest ultra-rapid EV charging network.

With the summer holidays in full swing and more electric vehicles on the road than ever before, InstaVolt has revealed that the Lake District has topped the list of popular destinations for EV drivers in a recent online social media poll for summer fun!

The Lake District came out on top of the responses when asked where drivers were heading to this summer with 30% – ahead of other iconic UK staycation spots like Cornwall, Wales and Devon.

To support EV tourists in the region, our strategically positioned charging hubs across key locations make journeys into and around the Lake District easier, more convenient, and more sustainable.

InstaVolt has recently opened a new charging hub in Windermere, featuring 12 160kW ultra-rapid chargers, including accessible bays, located next to Booths supermarket. This prime location allows drivers to top up while enjoying a range of local amenities, including food, parking, and restrooms, perfect for starting or ending a day exploring the Lakes.

For those travelling East to West across the Pennines, our Starbucks site on Tyne Street, Blaydon-on-Tyne (NE21 4JB) offers 6 ultra-rapid chargers. It’s the ideal place for a quick coffee and charge before your journey towards the Lakes.

Meanwhile, drivers approaching from Manchester, Liverpool or the South can have a pitstop at our site in Millbrook Way, Penwortham, Preston (PR1 0XW). Here, you’ll find 6 ultra-rapid chargers, including 2 accessible bays, alongside a Booths supermarket for picking up supplies before heading into the heart of the Lake District.

As part of our EVeryone, EVerywhere campaign, we’re celebrating sustainable travel around the UK’s most beautiful destinations and along key road networks. With over 2,000 chargers nationwide and off-peak rates (9pm-7am) for our App users, we’re supporting the EV revolution one charge at a time.

Delvin Lane, CEO of InstaVolt, said: “The Lake District is a jewel in the UK’s tourism crown, and we’re proud to be supporting sustainable travel in the region. As more people choose electric for their road trips, we’re committed to ensuring drivers can recharge quickly, comfortably and reliably – wherever the journey takes them.

“InstaVolt’s expansion in areas like the Lake District is designed with sustainability and rural sensitivity in mind. By integrating chargers into existing commercial locations such as supermarkets and service areas, the company aims to minimize environmental disruption while boosting local infrastructure and tourism.”

The InstaVolt app also helps drivers locate chargers based on their specific needs – including accessible bays and family amenities, plus enjoy off-peak charging rates available between 10pm and 6am, offering additional value for cost-conscious travellers.
