Customer Update: Payment Suspension Review – Starling Bank Reinstated
Following our recent announcement regarding the temporary suspension of payments from Monzo, Starling, and Revolut bank accounts, we wanted to provide you with an update.
Over the past few days, we identified a sophisticated fraud operation on our payment system, primarily using Monzo, Starling, and Revolut. The fraudulent activity meant charging sessions were being started but with no means for us to collect payment due to cancellation of accounts, ultimately leaving us exposed to financial losses.
As a result, we made the decision to suspend cards from these banks to protect our customers, and our network.
Our teams have been working tirelessly over the past 5 days alongside the banks and the police to address this issue. Thanks to these combined efforts, we are pleased to confirm that payments from Starling Bank customers are now reinstated with immediate effect.
At this time, payments from Monzo and Revolut accounts will remain suspended. We will reinstate them as soon as we are confident that the threat has been fully removed.
We would like to sincerely thank our customers for their understanding and patience during this period. Please rest assured that the safety and security of our customers – both at our charging hubs and via our payment systems – remains our absolute priority.
Thank you for your continued support.
