InstaVolt Shortlisted for EV Infrastructure Project of the Year at the 2025 Solar and Storage Live Awards

We’re proud to share that InstaVolt has been shortlisted for the EV Infrastructure Project of the Year at the Solar & Storage Live Awards 2025 – a leading industry recognition that celebrates innovation in electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

At the heart of our submission is the Winchester Superhub – InstaVolt’s largest and most advanced EV charging site to date. Officially opened in March 2025, the Superhub is strategically located along the A34 and just minutes from the M3, serving millions of drivers across one of the UK’s busiest transport corridors.

This state-of-the-art EV charging hub includes:

• 44 160kW ultra-rapid EV chargers
• 870 on-site solar panels (500kW capacity) paired with two battery storage systems (960kW/4MWh)
• Real-time energy management that switches between solar, storage and renewable grid energy
• Dynamic pricing to pass energy cost savings directly to EV drivers
• Fully accessible design for vans, towed vehicles and 3 dedicated blue badge bays
• A range of amenities including a Starbucks café, 24/7 toilets, air and water machines, a children’s play area, dog walking space and biodiversity features like bat boxes and wildflower planting

The Winchester Superhub directly addresses the UK’s EV infrastructure challenges, improving access to high-speed charging, reducing grid dependency and helping to eliminate range anxiety. It also played a key role in helping InstaVolt reach a milestone of over 2,000 public EV chargers installed nationwide as well as recently over 1,000 emission-free miles.

Built on time and within a £7 million budget, the Superhub reflects our commitment to scalable, sustainable and accessible EV infrastructure. With over 180 individuals and nearly 80 partner companies involved, it’s a shining example of industry collaboration.
