As 2025 draws to a close, we’re incredibly proud to look back on a year that has truly redefined what’s possible for ultra-rapid EV charging in the UK.

This year wasn’t just about growth in numbers – although passing 3,000 chargers nationwide is no small milestone. It was about raising expectations. About delivering innovation at scale. And about proving that reliable, future-ready EV infrastructure can be built quickly, responsibly and in the places drivers actually need it.

Here’s what made 2025 such a standout year for all of us at InstaVolt.

One Superhub Opened. One Superhub Underway.

A major highlight of the year was the opening of our flagship Winchester Superhub, located just off the A34 and minutes from the M3.

From the moment it opened, Winchester became one of the UK’s most talked-about charging destinations – and for good reason. With 44 ultra-rapid chargers, powered by on-site solar generation and battery storage, the Superhub represents a bold step forward in how large-scale charging infrastructure can be designed and delivered. The industry has taken notice too, with the site already securing three major awards in its first year.

And we’re not stopping there. While Winchester is now fully live, work is already well underway on our next major Superhub at Chicklade, on the A303 – a critical trunk road linking the South East and the South West. This site will build on everything we’ve learned so far, and we’re excited to see it completed in summer 2026.

Nearly 450 New Chargers Activated Across the UK

In parallel with our Superhub developments, 2025 saw us activate almost 450 new chargers nationwide. That expansion has significantly increased both capacity and coverage, helping to put dependable, ultra-rapid charging within easy reach of more drivers than ever before.

Every new charger strengthens the network – reducing range anxiety, supporting the continued uptake of EVs, and making electric driving a more practical choice for everyday journeys.

A UK First: On-Site Battery Storage at a Motorway Service Area

Innovation remained a central focus this year, and one project in particular stands out. At Welcome Break Corley Services on the M6, we delivered a UK-first by introducing on-site battery storage at a motorway service area.

This is genuinely game-changing infrastructure. By reducing reliance on large grid connections, the system helps maintain consistent charging speeds during peak demand and adds greater resilience across the site. It’s a major step towards building charging locations that are not just bigger, but smarter and more future-proof.

Charging That Fits Around Real Life

We’ve continued to focus on placing chargers where they make the most sense for drivers. Throughout 2025, we strengthened partnerships with major retail and hospitality brands including McDonald’s and Costa.

By integrating ultra-rapid charging into everyday destinations, we’re helping to normalise EV charging – turning it into something drivers can do naturally while grabbing a coffee, a meal or running errands.

Thank You – and Full Speed Ahead

None of this progress happens in isolation. It’s the result of the commitment and expertise of our colleagues, the trust of our partners, and the loyalty of the drivers who choose to charge with us every day.

Thank you for being part of an extraordinary year. With one Superhub opened, another taking shape, and innovation continuing at pace, we’re heading into 2026 with real momentum, and we’re only just getting started. ⚡
