A milestone moment at Chicklade
The transformation of our Chicklade ultra-rapid EV charging hub is gathering pace, with the demolition of the former petrol service station now taking place. This milestone marks the next phase in the site’s redevelopment and a significant step forward in transforming this long-established roadside location into a future-ready charging destination on the A303.
The removal of the legacy fuel infrastructure will clear the way for construction activity to ramp up in the coming weeks. With the site preparing for its next stage of development, momentum is building as Chicklade begins to visibly take shape as a key ultra-rapid charging hub for the South West.
The hub will feature over 30 ultra-rapid 160kW chargers alongside high-quality facilities designed to enhance comfort and dwell time for drivers. These will include 24-hour amenities, landscaped outdoor areas, a café and farm shop, a children’s play area and a new footpath connecting the site to the village of Chicklade. Our farm shop partner is due to be confirmed in spring, adding another important element to the customer experience at the site.
Set within the historic Fonthill Estate, the Chicklade hub represents a shift from traditional petrol retail to sustainable transport infrastructure, supporting the growing number of EV drivers travelling along the A303 corridor. With strong progress now visible on site, Chicklade remains on track for completion later this year and marks another important step forward in expanding reliable ultra-rapid charging across the region.
