Celebrating One Year of the Winchester Superhub

One year on from opening our flagship Winchester Superhub, we’re reflecting on what the site has achieved – and what it represents for the future of EV charging.

Since launching on 24 March 2025, the superhub has powered more than 4.5 million miles of carbon-free journeys. In doing so, it has helped avoid over 1.2 million kgs of CO₂ emissions, equivalent to planting nearly 30,000 trees and letting them grow for 10 years.

From day one, the vision for Winchester was clear: to create a large-scale, reliable charging destination that delivers a high-quality experience for drivers. Twelve months later, that vision is being realised every day.

The Winchester Superhub has become a key stop for drivers travelling along the A34, but its role now extends far beyond infrastructure.

Over the past year, the site has developed into a hub for the local EV community. We’ve hosted a variety of events and welcomed leading automotive brands, creating opportunities for drivers to engage directly with the latest electric vehicles.

Most recently, Polestar joined us, offering test drives to customers on site. This builds on previous activity from manufacturers including BYD, helping to make charging stops more engaging and informative.

Drivers benefit from straightforward, transparent pricing, including our off-peak tariff of 60p per kWh between 8pm and 7am. Like the rest of our network, the site is powered by 100% renewable energy, supporting cleaner journeys across the UK.

The Winchester Superhub is an important part of our wider mission to make EV charging simple and accessible for all. As demand for electric vehicles continues to grow, sites like this will play a critical role in supporting drivers across the UK.

One year on, we’re proud of what has been achieved and focused on continuing to build a network that drivers can rely on every day. As well as being excited for our new Superhub opening the end of the year at Chicklade on the A303.
