InstaVolt has completed the latest phase of its nationwide upgrade programme across Penny Petroleum forecourt sites in the North of England, reinforcing its commitment to delivering fast, reliable and accessible EV charging for drivers across the UK.

As part of the upgrade programme, older charging units have been replaced with faster ultra-rapid chargers capable of delivering up to 120kW. These upgrades ensure a smoother and more consistent charging experience, supporting the continued growth in EV demand while improving reliability across existing sites.

Accessibility has been a key focus throughout this phase of works. Fully accessible charging bays have now been installed at five Penny Petroleum locations: Hopwood Service Station, Durham Road Filling Station, Grandstand Services, Meadowfield Filling Station and Thornton Services. These improvements are designed to help ensure that more drivers can access ultra-rapid charging with confidence and ease.

In addition to new chargers, several Penny Petroleum sites have benefitted from widened and realigned parking bays. These changes improve manoeuvrability and make charging simpler for all drivers, including those using larger vehicles.

While InstaVolt continues to expand its ultra-rapid charging network at pace across the UK, the company remains equally focused on investing in the quality, consistency and accessibility of its existing sites.

Delvin Lane, CEO of InstaVolt, said: “We’re upgrading sites nationwide to make charging even easier, quicker and more accessible. Older units have been replaced with faster BYD120 chargers and improved bay layouts. We’re ensuring every InstaVolt site meets the same high standards drivers rely on – quick and easy charging available 24/7 and powered by 100% renewable energy.”

This latest phase forms part of InstaVolt’s multi-million-pound upgrade programme, reflecting its long-term investment in modern, user-friendly charging infrastructure that supports the UK’s transition to electric vehicles.
