InstaVolt has installed a charging hub consisting of 32 chargers in Stroud Park, close to the M40 motorway. The hub has been installed to provide rapid, fully open charging at the retail park and along a key commuter route between London and Birmingham.
The Story
With the potential to benefit EV owners and the range of retail and food and beverage locations on site, the team at Stroud Park recognised the importance of installing EV chargers at the leisure park. Having chargers available allows drivers to charge while they shop or enjoy a bite to eat, providing a mutually beneficial relationship to all parties involved.
Stroud Park engaged with InstaVolt as they felt they had an important location to host chargers, on a key commuter belt between London and Birmingham. The location is a high profile and prominent leisure park situated just off Junction 11 of the M40 at Banbury, providing fantastic roadside visibility and plenty of car parking.
The Solution
InstaVolt worked with Stroud Park to initially create an eight-charger hub, which was expanded in March 2022 to 16 chargers, and further expanded to an impressive 32 chargers in March 2023. The hub provides rapid charging solutions to drivers within, and travelling through the area, as well as those using the facilities on site.
While not an official service station, the site has a coffee shop, restaurant, and hotel and it functions very much like one. The addition of InstaVolt charging points at Stroud Park now provides a convenient stopping point for electric car drivers who benefit from the existing facilities and provides custom to the other units on site.
To ensure that EV charging is as accessible and inclusive as possible, the site now includes twelve wider access bays and four fully accessible bays. The four accessible bays have the required 1.2m distancing in front of, and between the chargepoints. The newest chargers are installed flush to the ground at the same level as the parking bay and the site features additional lighting throughout. The site has also been adapted with the installation of a zebra crossing to provide a safe and accessible route to the local amenities.
As an industry leading provider, Stroud Park chose to work with InstaVolt due to our reputation for reliability that stands out against the industry.
The Success
The InstaVolt chargers have provided a strong draw from many electric vehicle owners, which has benefitted the businesses of the other tenants on the estate which includes Costa Coffee and Miller and Carter. Additionally, the strong Google reviews for the chargers have helped drive traffic to Stroud Park which is helping to build the reputation of the site in the mind of the wider public.
The 32-charger site is InstaVolt’s largest UK hub and is now the company’s flagship location, seeing more than 5,000 visitors per month.
Speaking on the installation, James Hatherell, Rural Surveyor at Howkins and Harrison who act on behalf of Stroud Park said:
“Stroud Park’s partnership with InstaVolt made sense to provide EV drivers in the local area, and users of the retail park, with easily accessible, dependable charging. We’re dedicated to providing our customers with a seamless experience and functional facilities, and EV charging adds to that.
“We chose to work with InstaVolt as it is a well-respected brand, with a reputation for high quality, reliable chargers that do not present the problems that have faced other similar charging providers. The benefits to all parties are clear and while our customer offering was a key incentiviser in installing chargers, the business case is already extremely evident too.”
