InstaVolt has installed more electric car chargers in Leeds and the move has been welcomed by local authorities and EV drivers alike.

The company has installed chargers at:

  • Halfords Leeds (Melbourne Park, York Road)
  • Nowell Services (Kirkstall Road)
  • Nowell Filling Station (Harehills Lane)

Just like all of InstaVolt’s charging stations, the ones in Leeds are available for EV drivers to use on a pay-as-you-go basis with no subscription, card or membership needed. Drivers simply tap their contactless credit or debit card to pay. They can even use their smart watch or phone to pay if it’s set up for contactless payments.

Councillor James Lewis, Executive Member with responsibility for air quality at Leeds City Council, said: “Electric vehicles have progressed hugely in recent years. Not only do they create virtually zero exhaust emissions, they are also much cheaper to fuel and maintain than traditional diesel or petrol models.

“Many residents and businesses have told us that they’d be more likely to switch to cleaner and less polluting electric vehicles if there were more places to charge, so it is great to see new charge points being installed regularly by the private sector.

“As a council, we welcome any private or public sector investment that contributes towards the development of an increasingly comprehensive network of electric vehicle charge points across the city.

“We are continuing to work with the sector to deliver even more places to charge across the city. The more individuals and businesses that switch to low emission vehicles, the better we can tackle air pollution and protect the health of everyone in Leeds.”

The installation of more InstaVolt rapid chargers has also been welcomed by local drivers using Zap-Map, which allows people to find and review charging stations.

One wrote: “Another successful charge for the Leaf – easy to use never fails.” Another added: “So easy to operate with your card.”

InstaVolt is working at lightning pace to roll out the most user-friendly and reliable network of DC rapid electric vehicle chargers in the UK. Earlier this year it installed an impressive 72 chargers in just 30 days.
