InstaVolt Head Office - Chineham Business Park, Basingstoke

We’re seeking a detail-oriented CAD Technician to join our dynamic and fast-paced development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high quality 2D site layouts and technical drawings to support the development of EV charging infrastructure across the UK.

The successful candidate will use AutoCAD to create drawings for planning submissions, equipment elevations, site layouts, and other site-specific plans — considering a variety of design, legal, and operational factors.

This role is ideal for someone starting or continuing a career in the growing EV industry, contributing to InstaVolt’s mission to deliver best-in-class charging solutions. You’ll work closely with our Development, Connections, Legal, and Planning teams to bring new charging sites to life — from initial design through to construction.

Salary: £26,000 – £29,400 Depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce accurate 2D site layouts, planning drawings, construction plans, and elevations.
  • Update and revise existing drawings as required by changes in scope, design, or standards.
  • Collaborate with project developers, engineers, and internal teams to ensure drawing accuracy.
  • Assist the Development team throughout all design stages, from concept to final layout
  • Propose ideas to improve design efficiency and drawing processes.
  • Manage multiple projects at various stages of development while meeting deadlines.
  • Maintain clear records and organise files for easy access and sharing across teams.
  • Ensure all work complies with company policies, quality standards, and safety procedures.

Skills and experience needed for this role

  • Proficient in AutoCAD or similar CAD software (e.g. Revit, SolidWorks).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawing.
  • Strong time management and ability to prioritise workload.
  • Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-moving environment.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with good problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both within the team and across departments.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive).
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills to track and manage project data
  • A professional, team-oriented approach.
  • An interest in the EV industry — previous experience is a bonus, but enthusiasm and willingness to learn are essential.
