The role:

The Wayleave Officer will support the Connections Team in securing the necessary legal consents, wayleaves, easements, and leases to enable new and upgraded electrical connections.
This role provides development opportunities for the post holder to gain experience in land rights negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and utilities project delivery within the energy and infrastructure sector.

Salary:  £35,000 – £40,000 Depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation and processing of wayleave agreements, easements, and substation leases.
  • Support senior officers in negotiations with landowners, agents, and solicitors.
  • Carry out basic Land Registry and mapping searches to identify requirements and support applications.
  • Assist in maintaining trackers and records for all ongoing consents.
  • Liaise with internal teams, such as Legal, Design, Sales and Construction, to support the timely delivery of projects.
  • Help identify and resolve straightforward wayleave or consent issues under supervision.
  • Provide administrative and coordination support to ensure documentation and communications are up to date.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.

Skills & Competencies needed for this role:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational ability and attention to detail.
  • Customer-focused with good interpersonal skills
  • Proactive and willing to learn technical and legal processes.
  • Capable of working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse issues, identify practical solutions, and implement them effectively
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Good general education (A-Level or equivalent).
  • Basic understanding of land rights, property, or legal documentation.
  • Customer-facing experience (e.g., landowners, agents, developers).
  • Valid UK driving licence.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

  • Knowledge of electrical networks, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with Land Registry systems or mapping tools.
  • Qualification or training in land rights, property, or legal studies.
