Chickpea Provisions to open at Chicklade Superhub in March!

From March 2027, drivers heading between London and the South West will have a stop worth making. We’re opening our Chicklade Superhub in Wiltshire, and Salisbury-based Chickpea Group will run Chickpea Provisions on site: a butcher, baker and deli serving everything from an early breakfast on the way to the coast to a late bite on the way home.

Built for the A303’s busiest days

The A303 is one of the country’s key routes between London and the South West, linking the M3 with Somerset, Devon and Cornwall. We’ve designed Chicklade around the days when it’s under the most pressure, from the weekday commute to Friday getaways and the summer holiday traffic heading to and from the West Country.

It’s built for the move to electric but designed for the drivers on the road today. Whether you’re picking up a coffee on the way to work, stopping for lunch on the way to the coast or grabbing something from the deli counter on the way home, Chicklade fits into the journey you’re already making.

A stop drivers will actually want to make

We asked drivers what they want from a charging stop, and Chicklade is our answer. Families, holidaymakers and local drivers deserve somewhere they genuinely want to pull in, with great food, a shop worth browsing and fast, reliable charging waiting outside.

That’s why we’re delighted to have Chickpea Group on board. They’re a young, independent hospitality business from Salisbury, known for breathing new life into rural pubs, and their focus on local produce and proper hospitality is exactly what Chicklade needs.

Consistent speeds, even at peak times

Chicklade follows in the footsteps of our Winchester Superhub, which opened in March 2025. Like Winchester, it will combine on-site solar panels with battery storage.

The battery stores energy generated on site, alongside power drawn from the grid during quieter periods, then releases it when demand peaks. For drivers, that means consistent ultra-rapid charging at the busiest times of day. For us, it’s part of how we keep charging good value.

Simple to use, open to everyone

As at every InstaVolt site, charging at Chicklade is effortless. Tap your contactless card, plug in and go. For even better value, including off-peak rates between 8pm and 7am and other rewards, pay through the free InstaVolt app or with an RFID card. No subscription or membership needed.

Coming March 2027

Chicklade is the latest addition to our network of more than 4,000 chargers across 1,200 sites, all powered by 100% renewable energy. We’ll share more as opening day gets closer, but if the A303 is part of your commute, your weekend or your summer holiday, this is one to look out for.
