More Drivers Than Ever Are Choosing Electric
The UK’s transition to electric vehicles has reached a defining moment.
According to new analysis from Carbon Brief, more battery electric vehicles (BEVs) have been sold over the past 12 months than petrol cars for the first time. It’s a milestone that reflects not only the growing confidence drivers have in electric vehicles, but also how quickly the market is evolving.
For years, conversations around EVs have centred on whether drivers are ready to make the switch. These latest figures suggest the conversation has moved on. As more manufacturers bring new models to market, running costs remain competitive and public charging continues to expand, electric driving is becoming an increasingly natural choice for people across the UK.
At InstaVolt, we’re proud to play our part in that journey. With more than 4,250 ultra-rapid chargers across 1,200+ locations nationwide, every one of our charging sites is located where drivers already want to stop, alongside cafés, restaurants, supermarkets and retail destinations. Combined with the fact that drivers are now never more than 30 miles from an InstaVolt charging site anywhere in England and Wales, it’s helping make longer journeys and everyday travel simpler than ever.
This latest milestone isn’t the end of the UK’s electric vehicle journey – it’s another sign of how far we’ve come. As more drivers choose electric, we’ll continue investing in the infrastructure that helps make switching to electric even easier for everyone.
