Five of our favourite sites for a late summer getaway!
The bank holiday weekend is the perfect excuse for one last late summer trip before the nights draw in. Whether you’re chasing coastal air, garden views or a proper day out, we’ve picked five of our favourite InstaVolt sites near tourist destinations to charge up at along the way.
Tucked just off the A48 in the heart of the Cotswolds, Taurus Crafts is a lovely little find on the edge of the Forest of Dean, right on the Wye Valley border with Wales. Browse the craft workshops, grab a bite at the Severnside Kitchen Cafe, then top up on one of our six 160kW chargers before heading back out to explore the Forest. With the craft centre also being a charity, this is a great stop in many different ways.
“Quick charge whilst having a toastie in the craft village. No wait and easy access”
For a slower city escape, Syon Park is hard to beat. Our chargers sit a short walk from Syon House, Syon Park and The Great Conservatory, with Hillier Garden Centre right next door for anyone who fancies coming home with a new houseplant or two. A proper green pocket of west London.
“Great place to charge, lovely setting for a wander or head into the garden centre. Cafe and other amenities too.”
Fancy the seaside? Our Skegness hub on South Parade is just moments from the beach, with Skegness Aquarium and the Boating Lake both within easy reach. Six ultra-rapid 160kW chargers sit right next to a Starbucks, so there’s time for a coffee while you charge.
“Great location, large spaces to use. All 6 stalls working as expected. Starbucks nearby and within walking distance to other local amenities. Much needed charging around this area.”
Just off the A259 on the road between Rye and Camber, our chargers at Salts Farm Shop are a proper find. Browse the local produce, grab a coffee, then take a seat outside if the weather’s playing along, all just metres from the six chargers.
“A great set up: It was our first time using InstaVolt, but I installed the app, when we arrived, then started fast charging. The chargers had two types of connectors. I popped into the excellent farm shop, while I waited. Overall a superb service!”
Right on the North Wales coast, our chargers at Darwin Escapes Holiday Park make a great base for a day out. Grab a coffee while you wait, stretch your legs on the short walk to a brilliant nearby beach, or make use of the on-site gym and spa if you fancy something more active. Well lit and easy to find, it’s just as good a stop after dark as it is during the day.
“At night it’s very safe, well lit and easy to find or access. There’s a coffee shop if you’re inclined. There’s a gym and spa to check out whilst charging. Or a short walk to the beach while charging.”
Wherever the road takes you
Wherever you’re headed – on a day trip, away for a long weekend or just running to the shops for supplies, you’re never far from a charge. In fact across England and Wales, you’re never more than 30 miles from an InstaVolt charger, all powered by 100% renewable energy. And if you are out and about in the evening, InstaVolt app users get off-peak rates of 55p per kWh between 8pm and 7am, making it even easier to top up on your way to wherever’s next.
