At InstaVolt, we’re rolling out new battery technology across our charging network to help deliver faster, more reliable, and better-value EV charging for drivers.

Six new battery-powered sites are already live, with at least 20 more planned before the end of 2026.

So what does that actually mean for drivers?

Behind the scenes, our battery systems store energy when it’s cheaper and cleaner, typically overnight, which helps power chargers during busy daytime periods. This helps us reduce pressure on the grid, improve charging performance, and operate sites more efficiently.

For drivers, the experience stays exactly the same: plug in, grab a coffee, and charge as normal.

But behind the scenes, smarter energy infrastructure is helping deliver greater value, greater speed and greater reliability.

Battery storage is especially important at busy motorway and rural locations, where grid capacity can often limit charging performance. By adding batteries directly to sites, we can increase available power and expand charging faster across the UK.

We’re already seeing the difference at locations like Corley and Winchester, where battery systems are helping support higher-power charging and smarter energy use across the network.

So why we continue to build a nationwide network of chargers, we’re also making that network smarter, more efficient, and driven by innovation in action.
