Electric car drivers have received a major boost with the opening of the largest public rapid charger hub on one of the UK’s busiest motorways.

The Story:

As EV’s become more prominent, Welcome Break looked to partner with InstaVolt to support customers’ growing demand for EV charging points at service areas while supporting their ambition to be the leading provider of EV charge points on the motorway network.

The Solution:

Motorways face growing criticism from EV (electric vehicle) drivers for the lack of fast, reliable, clean and easy to use chargers on the UK’s most important road network.

Welcome Break turned to InstaVolt to embark on the project to build chargers at one of the M6’s busiest services at Corley in the Midlands, with 15 chargers in total deployed across the Corley North and Corley South motorway service areas.

While enjoying rapid and hassle-free charging, drivers can enjoy a range of popular amenities at the service area whilst they charge, including Waitrose, Starbucks and KFC.

The Success:

Since the installation, InstaVolt and Welcome Break have provided reliable, rapid charging to hundreds of thousands of drivers. Across the portfolio, the partnership has saved 1,538 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions with over 6,000,000 emission free miles driven since the site installation in 2021.
