InstaVolt, the UK’s leading ultra-rapid EV charging network, has launched its first charging site in the Republic of Ireland at McDonald’s Belgard Road restaurant in Tallaght, Dublin.

This milestone not only marks InstaVolt’s debut in Ireland but also reflects its wider commitment to installing over 16,000 chargers across Europe by 2030, as part of its ambition to become the continent’s largest ultra-rapid charging network.

The two 160kW ultra-rapid chargers installed at the Dublin restaurant can deliver an 80% charge in less than 20 minutes, offering EV drivers a fast and reliable charging experience.

Powered by 100% renewable energy, these chargers align with InstaVolt’s commitment to sustainability across its growing international network.

Marking the first step in InstaVolt’s rollout across Ireland, further chargers are planned for McDonald’s locations in Newbridge, Letterkenny, and Maynooth throughout 2025.

InstaVolt’s latest development highlights its commitment to international expansion, with a presence now spanning five countries: the UK, Iceland, Spain, Portugal, and Ireland. This move into Ireland reflects the company’s ambition to deliver ultra-rapid charging solutions that are both accessible and sustainable, reinforcing its broader mission to support the transition to electric mobility across Europe.

Simon Smith, InstaVolt’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “We are delighted to bring InstaVolt’s ultra-rapid chargers to Dublin, expanding our network across Europe and strengthening our collaboration with global partners.

“Working with premium brands like McDonald’s enables us to deliver world-class charging solutions while supporting drivers in transitioning to electric vehicles.

“Our goal is to lead the way in ultra-rapid charging, combining reliability, ease of use, and sustainability to set the standard for EV infrastructure.”

The installation at McDonald’s Belgard Road underscores the strength of InstaVolt’s partnership with global brands that share its commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Known for its seamless “tap and charge” model, InstaVolt has become synonymous with hassle-free charging and is trusted by EV drivers across its growing network.

McDonald’s Jimmy Edwards who owns and operates the Tallaght restaurants said: “I’m thrilled to introduce the new InstaVolt rapid charging point at our Belgard Road restaurant.

“This is an exciting step forward in our commitments to sustainability and elevating the customer experience at our restaurants.

“Customers can now take advantage of ultra-rapid charging in the car park while stopping to refuel themselves!”

As InstaVolt continues to expand, it remains focused on providing reliable and convenient charging infrastructure at high-traffic locations.

By working with premium partners and prioritising ease of use and reliability, the company is setting the standard for ultra-rapid charging infrastructure on an international scale as it targets becoming the largest CPO in Europe by the end of the decade.
