InstaVolt’s innovative battery storage network is turning sunshine into smarter charging
The recent sunshine we’ve been experiencing in the UK this isn’t just good for the soul, it’s good for the grid. When the sun is out, renewable energy generation surges. That’s exactly why battery energy storage matters, and it’s a core part of how we are building a smarter, more resilient charging network.
Our Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) capture excess renewable energy as it’s generated, ready to be released the moment it’s needed. The result is a network that smooths out supply, cuts waste and keeps clean power flowing even after the sun goes down. It’s a big part of why we’re proud to be leading the way on battery storage in the UK, and our network continues to grow site by site.
Our current BESS installations include:
- Corley North, Coventry, CV7 8NR
- Corley South, Coventry, CV7 8NR
- Bwch Moch Cafe, Porthmadog, LL49 9SN
- Co-op Croydon, CR0 7AF
- Williams Way, Northampton, NN4 5DY
- Three Trees Farm Shop & Café, Swindon, SN4 0HT
- Lottbridge Drove, Eastbourne, BN22 7SG
- Harwich Gateway Retail Park, CO12 4EN
Every new site means more stored renewable energy, more resilience for the grid, and more support for our growing EV charging network. Thanks to this investment in battery storage, drivers at our Winchester Superhub are already benefitting from a charging rate of 70p/kWh, or 65p/kWh for those using the InstaVolt App, a tangible example of how smarter energy infrastructure translates into a better deal for drivers.
As EV adoption accelerates, the case for investing in battery storage only grows stronger. By capturing renewable energy when it’s abundant and releasing it when drivers need it most, we’re not just expanding our charging network, we’re building the infrastructure that makes every sunny day count. Here’s to more sunny days, and to building the battery infrastructure that makes the most of every one of them.
