Shop and charge across the North with InstaVolt
We’re proud to confirm that drivers exploring the Lake District and West Cumbria this summer are never more than 30 miles from an InstaVolt charger, with five key sites across the region offering ultra-rapid charging in convenient, amenity-rich locations.
As one of the UK’s most popular staycation destinations, the Lake District sees a significant rise in visitor traffic over the summer months. Our network across the region means EV drivers exploring the National Park, the fells or the coast are never far from a reliable place to charge, wherever their route takes them.
Our sites in Windermere, Keswick and Ulverston are hosted at Booths supermarkets and cafés, reflecting our long-standing partnership with the regional retailer. Barrow-in-Furness and Whitehaven extend coverage further along the Cumbrian coast.
Windermere – 12 chargers in the heart of one of the Lakes’ busiest tourist towns, close to Windermere train station. On-site amenities include a Booths supermarket and café, hot drinks, snacks and accessible bays.
Keswick – 6 chargers a short distance from the A66 in the northern Lakes. On-site amenities include a Booths supermarket and café, hot food, hot drinks, snacks and accessible bays.
Ulverston – 6 chargers just off the A590 covering the southern Lakes and routes towards Barrow. On-site amenities include a Booths supermarket and café, hot drinks, snacks, free WiFi and accessible bays.
Barrow-in-Furness – 10 ultra-rapid chargers extending our network into Furness and the Cumbrian coast.
Whitehaven – 8 chargers at The Bridges Retail Park. On-site amenities include Morrisons, Greggs, McDonald’s, hot food, hot drinks and accessible bays.
Every site combines ultra-rapid charging with everyday amenities, from cafés to supermarkets, making each stop part of the enjoyment of the journey.
As with all of our sites across the country, these chargers are available on a pay-as-you-go basis via contactless card, the free InstaVolt app or RFID card. Drivers can also benefit from our 55p per kWh off-peak rate, available between 8pm and 7am through the InstaVolt app or InstaVolt RFID card.
Delvin Lane, Chief Executive Officer at InstaVolt, said:
“Our sites across the Lake District are great examples of how far our network extends. Wherever you are in England and Wales, you’re never more than 30 miles from an InstaVolt charger, and that kind of coverage gives drivers real confidence to travel further this summer, knowing reliable, ultra-rapid charging is never far away.”
Across the UK, we now operate more than 4,250 chargers across 1,200 locations, meaning drivers in England and Wales are never more than 30 miles from an InstaVolt charger, wherever they’re headed this summer.
