Field Services Manager – Basingstoke

Job Title: Field Services Manager

Location: Basingstoke

Base: InstaVolt Head Office – Chineham Business Park, Basingstoke

Salary: £43,000 – £48,000 depending on experience + Company Electric vehicle

Our team of Field Service Engineers and Network Performance team provide a full range of maintenance to our stations, and this is the chance to join this market leading team. The successful candidate will be playing a crucial role in the expansion of the network and the continuation of our reputation as best in industry.

InstaVolt are looking to recruit a Field Services Manager to oversee the work completed by their team of in-house field engineers completing the installation and maintenance of DC rapid vehicle chargers. The company is at the beginning of a major growth within our engineering team and this role will be pivotal for InstaVolt to continue as the market leader.

Role Overview

The role will suit a good leader with the ability to adapt and change in line with the business needs. They will bring with them a sound understanding of electrical testing and fault finding and the willingness to learn about the EV industry.

The role will require the candidate to possess the ability to be able to assist in the design of EV charging infrastructure, the installation of infrastructure should it be required, oversee and have excellent remote management of the field based engineers’ work, assess and counter sign (where required) NICEIC certification in line with the Principle Duty Holders requirements and assist with remote fault finding and additional tasks as required by the business needs.

The role is mainly office based at our head office in Basingstoke, however there may a requirement for nationwide travel to conduct site audits, Toolbox talks, van checks and supporting fault finding if required.

The Candidate:

A successful candidate will have the ability to communicate with multiple members of staff, from reporting to the Head of O&M, members of the Network Performance team, Construction team and Project managers. There is also a requirement to effectively communicate with our engineering back office team, warehouse and installation teams to supplement the knowledge base.

Skills and experience needed for this role

We would be looking for the below in the successful candidate, with the main ability being able to fit into a fast-paced industry and team.

  • Be suitably qualified and experienced in electrical installation and testing works
  • Be in possession of C&G 2391 or equivalent in order to become the NICEIC Principe Duty Holder, along with 18th edition qualifications and to be conversant in BS7671. Ideally would have held the role of a Qualifying Supervisor or Principe Duty Holder previously
  • The ability to review electrical designs for distribution circuits and work alongside electrical equipment manufacturers to ensure existing products are updated as required to ensure compliance for future works
  • Oversee a team of field-based engineers and the ability to remotely assist with fault finding, installation and testing should it be required
  • The willingness to attend sites around the UK to assist in installation work should it be required.
  • Ability to comprehend and adhere to health and safety regulations and standards and hold in an date ISOH or SMSTS certificate
  • A flexible attitude and the ability to quickly adapt to changes and learn new skills and techniques.
  • Provide prompt and co-operative response to reactive fault issues
  • To be willing to learn about new technology in the industry and provide technical support for the team on a variety of electrical matters
  • Have a good knowledge of Microsoft packages including Outlook, Word, OneDrive and Excel
  • Good communication and customer facing skills, with the ability to communicate with a variety of people during your working day
  • Work with their own initiative and willingly adapt to a changing programme of works as required.
  • The willingness to on-board additional resources as required and the chance to build a market leading team of field service engineers
  • A full, clean driving licence and the desire to learn more about this industry. EV experience isn’t essential but beneficial

  • The ideal candidate will be from a strong maintenance background with good electrical knowledge and experience, including safe isolation and working practices.
  • Experience in Electronics components, inspection, fault diagnostics, component repair and replacement
  • Have the skills to undertake minor civil repairs (potholes, wheel stops, kerbs, bollard replacement, white lining painting, signage, and landscaping)
  • NVQ or equivalent qualifications preferred
  • Utilising the latest available technical guides and documentation to effect resolution to faults
  • Experience working in a customer focused environment
  • Full driving Licence.

 Ideal additional skills:

  • SPA/UKPIA accreditation.

Application Support Engineer

Winners of multiple industry and driver awards we are the market leader in EV infrastructure and due to rapid expansion of the charging network we are now hiring for a skilled Application Support Engineer.

Sitting within our IT team, as an Application Support Engineer you will be the first port of call for system issues relating to our digital portal and Android/iOS mobile applications used by our customers.

You will be an experienced trouble shooter in 2nd line application support, as well as having some 3rd line support knowledge; and you will be use to investigating complex issues, and relate your findings to the development team. You should have the ability to switch between applications and understand how systems operate together.

It would be beneficial if your experience spanned across any of our typical systems, tools and applications, such as:

  • Rational Database (SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL)
  • Networking Fundamentals
  • JSON, YAML
  • Understanding of REST/SOAP API
  • Jira

CAD Technician

Job Title: CAD Technician
Location: InstaVolt Ltd, Chineham Business Park, Basingstoke
Base: Office based

The selected candidate will be expected to have basic knowledge of AutoCAD. They will be required to complete 2D site designs taking into account a variety of situational factors. The company is fast paced so the ability to work quickly and efficiently is important. At any one time the successful candidate will be expected to work on multiple sites at different stages of development which means the ability to prioritise and work under pressure is crucial. 

Whilst work on AutoCAD will be a key part of the role, they will also be expected to expand their knowledge and learn about the planning process and understand grid offers to be able to further the development of a site. 

It would be preferable if the candidate had the below skills. 

  • Knowledge of and ability to use AutoCAD software is essential. 
  • The desire to learn more about project development and get involved in the Planning and Grid process. 
  • Great time management and communication skills. 
  • To be able to work under pressure and within a fast moving, dynamic industry. 
  • Prioritise workload depending on a variety of factors. 
  • Have good knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint and OneDrive and the ability to pick up knowledge on different systems. 
  • Great administration skills to allow for tracking of site progress and information sharing.

Warehouse Stock Controller

Job Title: Warehouse Stock Controller
Location: Basingstoke
Hourly rate: £12.00 per hour, 40 hours a week plus discretionary overtime

Role Overview
The role will be based at our Basingstoke warehouse and will suit a dedicated individual who is looking to expand their knowledge of this expanding industry and further their career.

The role will include, but not limited to below:

  • Operating and ensuring tight control of a stock management system
  • Ordering stock, PPE and other materials as required
  • Booking, checking and logging of deliveries.
  • Preparing materials for installation work.
  • Checking and maintaining company vehicles in line with company expectations.
  • Performing regular 3rd party and internal stock checks.
  • Calibration, logging and tracking of testing equipment and tools.
  • Adhering to a strict Health & Safety environment.

It would be preferable if the candidate had the below skills.

  • Ability to comprehend and adhere to health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Ability to adapt in fast paced and rapidly changing environment
  • Provide prompt response to inquiries whenever required.
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Practical problem solving skills
