Electrical Service Engineer – East of England

InstaVolt is the largest owner operator of rapid electric vehicle charging stations across the UK and we pride ourselves on customer experience and satisfaction. Our team of electrical service engineers provide a full range of maintenance to our stations, as well as playing a crucial role in the expansion of the network and the continuation of our reputation as best in industry.

InstaVolt is looking to bring on a new Service Engineer to cover East Anglia, East Midlands and North London to join the team as we continue to expand our network across the country. The candidate must be happy and willing to drive across their designated area and if required, complete longer journeys to cover other engineers’ areas if they are absent or on annual leave.

Role Overview

The selected candidate will have to perform four key duties in their role. These are proactive maintenance, reactive maintenance and site surveys.

  • Proactive Maintenance: By keeping the stations maintained and clean this will help InstaVolt prevent any downtime on our assets and ensure that InstaVolt’s reputation remains the best in industry.
  • Reactive Maintenance: This will be a crucial part in the candidate’s role, as InstaVolt strive to keep our network online 24/7
  • Site Surveys: Following instruction from the design team, the engineer will be able to provide a suitable drawing of the site and the available locations for the charging stations.
  • Construction: Working with the warehouse engineers to assist with the landing of stations and the electrical fit out. You will be comfortable talking to the project managers regarding certain tasks and working alongside other electrical contractors.

A successful candidate will have the ability to communicate with multiple members of staff, from reporting to their manager, members of the network performance team, project managers and members of the design team regarding the site surveys. There is also a requirement to effectively communicate with our engineering back office team to diagnose and rectify any faults that have occurred.

It would be preferable if the candidate had the below skills.

  • Ability to comprehend and adhere to health and safety regulations and standards
  • Single-handedly and efficiently perform electrical installation jobs and fault finding.
  • Be suitability qualified in electrical installation work and conversant in BS7671.
  • Quickly adapt to changes and learn new skills and techniques.
  • Provide prompt response to inquiries whenever there is a breakdown, and resolve the issue as quickly as possible
  • Installation of fresh electrical components and fittings
  • Troubleshoot machine breakdowns and provide preventive maintenance services
  • Supervise electrical works when new projects are undertaken
  • Keep record of all stock and supplies, including companies’ electrical equipment in van
  • Have a basic knowledge of Microsoft packages including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Good communication and customer facing skills, with the ability to communicate with a variety of people during your working day.

Due to the locations of InstaVolt’s stations there may be a requirement for the successful candidate to stay away from home for short periods of time. InstaVolt will supply a hotel card for use when this is required.

Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager role is pivotal to securing new sites for our DC rapid chargers. The role is responsible for identifying and developing new opportunities across London and within the M25, in line with our site selection criteria.

Knowledge and experience of property lease arrangements is beneficial, though not essential for this role. Join the fastest growing rapid charging network and supercharge the transition to an electrified future!

 

Administrative Support

Help with day-to-day tasks and office management. Supporting the operations team on elements of pre-construction through to site delivery.

Technical Managers

Capable of supporting the operations team on a wide range of tasks with a good knowledge and understanding of electrical network infrastructure.

Development Managers

Overseeing all relevant connection applications to establish grid connectivity for each individual rapid charging station. Liaising with energy suppliers to establish energy supply contracts and obtaining half hourly/non-half hourly metering.

Project Manager

We are looking for a highly motivated and engaged Project Manager to oversee the installation of our DC rapid and high powered EV charging points. This is a key hire for InstaVolt, with the successful candidate being capable of managing sub-contractors and adhering to our safety culture across numerous construction sites across the UK. They will be fully responsible for the delivery of the DNO connection to each site, managing the process from initial quote acceptance through to an energised installation.
